ABOUT WESCO

WESCO GROUP was established in 1981 by John Mancini

WESCO has been committed to serving the building industry with the finest Quarry Materials and Ready Mixed Concrete for several years.

In the beginning:

Managing Director of WESCO John Mancini started this business by providing a quality service to all his customers by commencing with one truck and sheer determination.

This one man, one truck combination now employs over 60 people and now operates an impressive fleet of some 45 trucks .Wesco’s key strengths are impeccable customer service, its broad range of quality products and friendly reliable service.

Wesco’s mainstream business is supplying Sand & Aggregates to the Premixed Concrete and Asphalt industries .Other sectors include Civil Contractors, Water and Sewer contractors, Council’s and government bodies, concreters, builders and developers.

Some 24 yrs on Wesco has become one of the largest suppliers of Quarry Products in the Sydney Market and recently the largest privately owned premixed concrete producer.

Wesco venture into the Premixed Concrete Market

April 1996, WESCO acquired Smithfield Mini Mix, a mini concrete plant that serviced the local area. It was soon rebadged Wesco Readymixed Concrete and plans were put in place to upgrade the fleet and increase the plants capacity.

November 1996 saw the construction of a new plant at the same location which paved the way into the Maxi Truck side of the industry. In the first month, the new plant produced 700 cubic metres and that has now increased to over 3000 per month.

Expansion Phase

WESCO is a company that is determined to encourage company growth and is constantly expanding to ensure that their service and quality can be reached to customers all over and beyond Sydney.

January 2003: Wesco acquired a 2nd Concrete Batching Plant located at 70 Sargents Rd, Minchinbury. This gave Wesco the opportunity to further increase its footprint in the Sydney premixed concrete market.

July 2004 saw contracts being exchanged and the purchase of Glenorie Readymixed Concrete was finalised. Glenorie Readymixed is a Premixed Concrete supplier and also stocks a full range of Quarry products and Landscape supplies located in the Hills district.

August 2005: Wesco purchased their fourth Concrete batching plant located at 71a Stephens Rd, Botany .This plant will service the CBD and surrounding areas.

The purchase of this plant makes Wesco Readymixed Concrete (NSW) Pty Ltd the largest privately owned concrete producer in the Sydney Metropolitan Area.

WESCO Acquisition of Quarry at Denman, NSW

September 2004: Wesco Quarry Products acquired its first Sand & Aggregate Deposit at Denman, NSW.

As resources quickly diminish in the Sydney region and raw material prices sky rocket Wesco believes this acquisition to be a critical move in order to control its cost of goods and to remain competitive.

Acquisition of Green Gables

August 2003: Wesco acquired Green Gables, a Sand Soil and Gravel supplier. Key benefits to Wesco in terms of company growth and enhancement in employee skills and experience.

New Head Office and improved Organisational Structure

November 2004: WESCO’s head office was re-located to new premises in Smithfield to ensure that the company will operate more effectively and efficiently.

The new head office became a central allocations centre which incorporates both Wesco Readymixed Concrete (NSW) Pty Ltd and Wesco Quarry Products Pty Ltd.

There were also major operational changes with the introduction of Access Unlimited , a new software program which runs dispatch, sales, ticketing, truck scheduling and tracking for both our Concrete and Quarry divisions.

Maintenance Division

Wesco operates its own Maintenance Division currently at 10 Toohey Rd, Wetherill Park. This enables us to have full control when it comes to servicing, repairing and painting of our fleet. Benefits include controlling maintenance costs and ensuring our vehicles spend less time off the road and more time being productive.

Purchase of New Agitators

In 2006 Wesco, the largest independent concrete supplier in Sydney takes the lead to purchase a 10 Wheeler Concrete Agitator….and it doesn’t take a scientist to appreciate that more concrete delivered by less trucks in shorter time frame means better payload and improved productivity.
